The Mass Attendance Requirement 

As Catholics, we are obligated to attend mass every weekend.

To support this commitment, Beach Catholic maintains the following attendance standards for all Religious Ed and Long Beach Catholic Families:

Attendance Requirement 

• • Consistency
    • Families in our Program and our Catholic School are required to AT LEAST attend Mass a minimum of 3 times per month
    • Which equates to 75% (although we encourage 100%) throughout the entire year.
    • Families may attend any of our 3 Beach Catholic Churches (St. Mary of the Isle, St. Ignatius Martyr, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal -or- you may go to a “visiting church” but you are responsible to let us know so we may ensure your family’s attendance record is accurate).
  • Recording
    • Attendance is tracked per family to ensure we are growing in faith together.
    • QR Scan System is used
    • Families are responsible to scan in each time they attend mass.

How to Log Your Attendance

Option A: At a Beach Catholic Church:

• Each BC Church has a QR code located in the back of every church and most entrances.
• The code needs to be scanned with your phone camera each time you attend mass.
• PLEASE only scan QR if your child is in attendance at the Mass.

Option B: Attending Mass Elsewhere (“Visiting Church”)

• If your family attends Mass outside of a BC Parish, you are responsible for updating your records by logging into your family attendance account and recording the place, date and time of the mass with a picture of the bulletin.

Option C: Email massattendance@beachcatholic.com

This should be only used on rare occasions when there are issues with the family account.

Online or Classwork Content Completed Requirement 

Each week the student will be responsible for the completion of lessons (– OR – if a Catholic School Student Completion of classwork lessons).

For Religious Ed Students:

If the student is a HYBRID student – then they will complete online lessons only on the weeks we are not in person.

If the student is a totally ONLINE student – then they will complete online lessons each week.

ALL lessons must be completed in a timely manner. The lessons are self-guided, however younger students may do well to have a parent participate with them.

For Catholic School Students:

All lessons in school must be completed to the standards of the school attending and class requirements.

A Note Regarding Our Requirements

Whether a student is a HYBRID or ONLINE or a Catholic School student the family is still responsible for the Mass Attendance Requirement.

All of our Requirements must be satisfied in order for a student to receive their sacraments. Both Confirmation and First Communion are 2-year programs. A student must study at minimum for at least 2 years to be considered “prepared” to receive these sacraments. We follow a “leveled” system and not a “grade” system.

• • For Example: If your child comes to us for the first time in 2nd grade and has never studied before, they shall be placed in our 1st level so they may study for 2 years (1st and 2nd level) before receiving the Sacrament of Communion. Likewise, if your 8th grader comes to us after being away from Religious Education for a time, the student will be placed in the 7th level to study for 2 years.
